At the start of the new year, we began offering an unlimited vacation policy to our current and future employees as an additional company benefit. Call us crazy, but there’s a method to our madness.
We came to this decision for a couple of reasons:
- Our employees continue to work incredibly hard for this company, and we wanted to find an awesome way to say thanks.
- We’re constantly striving on building a great culture and positive work experience for our employees and our community. We want to be known as one of the best companies to work for.
We all know the importance of work-life balance, and we wanted to support and reward our employees by offering something that encourages this.
We get asked a lot if this benefit gets taken advantage of. Honestly, it doesn’t. By empowering our employees to make reasonable and responsible decisions regarding their paid time off, we’re also cultivating within them a career-oriented mindset.
We see it as mutually beneficial. Our employees never need to stress about time off (because let’s face it, life happens) and it helps our company because we continue to have refreshed, happy, productive employees.
“Having unlimited vacation gives me reassurance that I won’t have to miss quality time with my daughter and wife,” said Michael Knight, account manager. “With past employers, I’ve had to miss out on many milestones, but now I don’t have to worry about that. This additional benefit that Trident has given us only makes me want to work that much harder for such a great company.”
We’ve always thought that companies (including us) need to be doing more for their employees than what’s considered “standard.” We also wanted to create a work environment that encourages collaboration, deepens relationships between our employees, and have avenues to destress during the workday. What would an unlimited vacation policy look like for you and your company?
